While we're always on the lookout for "the best of the best" coffees to offer you, the last few months have seen mostly average to good coffees with few if any standouts being offered by our suppliers. Which is why we're excited to be able to announce the addition of three new and truly outstanding coffees, with a fourth that will be available very soon:
Colombia Supremo Bucaramanga
Lying high in the eastern Andes mountain range in northern Colombia, Bucaramanga is one of the main coffee producing regions in Colombia. Coffees produced here are known for their pronounced aroma and body. These distinctive attributes combine to create a coffee that's both rich and delicious, with a pleasant lingering aftertaste.
For those who love a rich, robust, full bodied coffee, we will be offering Bucaramanga as a single origin. The Bucaramanga will also be used as the base or foundation coffee in our next new offering, our Winter Blend.
Our Winter Blend starts with our rich, full bodied Colombian Bucaramanga. Then it's mellowed and sweetened with the addition of our latest offering from Ethiopia, a naturally processed Misty Valley Yirgacheffe. We then finish with a touch of earthy warmth from Indonesia for a coffee that we think will make the perfect cup of coffee on those cold winter mornings.
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Misty Valley Natural
I've already given away our third new offering in my last description, but here's a little more info for those who enjoy knowing some of the history behind the coffees they drink.
While the washed coffees of Yirgacheffe have long been prized for their delicate, tea-like aromas and citrus flavors, it is in the Naturally Processed coffees from this well known origin with their completely different flavor profile that the Ethiopian coffees truly shine.
Misty Valley is a prime example of the fruitiness, complexity and character of these Natural Yirgacheffe coffees. Developed by exporter and producer, Abdullah Bagersh, the Natural Misty Valley is subject to an incredible amount of care from start to finish. The ripe cherries are laid out on raised beds to dry and are turned constantly, day and night to ensure even and consistent drying. After the coffee cherries are fully dry, they are taken to the mill where the skins, mucilage, and parchment are removed. They are then triple sorted and then traded as Grade 1 Yirgacheffe.
In the cup, Misty Valley truly delivers. A perfume-like floral aroma leads into a crisp and complex fruit basket of flavors. A milky body provides balance for the fruit and aromatics and the cup finishes with a lingering pleasant mouthfeel.
Blue Coulee Coffee is happy to announce that our flavored coffees are finally available. Our initial lineup includes several great tasting flavors with more flavors coming soon.
Our current flavors include:
Our all natural flavorings are added to the coffee beans as soon as they leave the roaster and while they are still warm. That way the flavors are absorbed deeper into the bean which makes for a much more flavorful cup of coffee. Try some today and let us know what you think. We'd love to hear your ideas for future flavors too.
By popular demand, Blue Coulee Coffee will soon be expanding their line-up of great coffees with the addition of a variety of delicious flavored coffees! The initial list of flavors will include some timeless classics such as Hazelnut, French Vanilla, and Cinnamon, as well as several more recent favorites including Caramel Machiato and White Chocolate Caramel. All of our flavored coffees will be made right here at Blue Coulee using the same high quality coffees we offer in our non-flavored line and utilizing the highest quality flavoring oils available.
Don't see your favorite flavor on the list? No problem, just comment or drop us a line and we'll be happy to add your flavor to the menu!
More on this in the days ahead!
With warmer weather finally here and summer just around the corner, we'll (hopefully) find some time for relaxing in the back yard or out on the deck with a nice cold refreshing beverage. Well did you know that those delicious iced coffee drinks that you love so much (and pay so dearly for) at your local coffee shop can be enjoyed at home too, and for a fraction of the cost? It's easy and fun too.
First you'll need to whip up a batch of cold brew coffee that will serve as a base for all of your yummy coffee creations. By brewing the coffee at room temperature over a longer period of time (12-15 hours), you'll get all of the flavor, aroma and caffeine, without the bitterness and acidity that gets extracted from the coffee beans when brewing with hot water. The result will be a much smoother yet flavorfull coffee. Perfect for our iced coffee drinks. Here's how:
